Usually you can call the collection agency and they will work with you on a payment plan. Most of the time even if you are making a very measly payment, you can still work it out with them. They are in control of the collection of your debt, but they can't legally take your money without your consent.
Also, are you due for a raise at your job? If you have been there over six months without one, it may be that time. Talk with your boss about your accomplisments there and how you have helped the company, and you will possibly have a reward in store. Otherwise, look at craigslist.com for jobs in your area that may pay more.

yes :) im 19 my son is almost 1 year and i get FAFSA for school
(my moms a doctor so her income is definitely to high)
most importation thing is to take classes you can handel with a baby because if you don't pass you're classes you don't get money for next semester, because you might not have as much time for home work and studding with a baby.
dont take out loans unless you really have to because you will have to pay it all back plus some, get FASFA i dont see if i qualify why you would not

You can only become emancipated if you are a minor. Sorry. Make sure when you complete your fafsa that you list 2 in college if your sister meets the requirements to be listed in the household. This can make a huge difference in your EFC. Also be aware anyone can get federal fin aid regardless of income in the form of Stafford loans, so saying you simply don't qualify isn't entirely
true.

Loans may not be your preferred way to pay for college, but if it's the choice of going or dropping out. They are a pretty good deal.

The only real source of financial aid is through the US Government. Fill out your FAFSA and see how much you qualify for.

One of your problems is that you have $10,000 left in your bank account and that is a hefty sum of money for the average college student. You will very likely have a high EFC till you spend this $10,000. I realize that your planning on using this for living, however you must remember that most of us have less than $500 in our bank accounts and make $8,000 a year or so while working at least one full time job and going to college full time.

Of course you can always take out the equity that is in your home to further your education. Its value will be looked at under your real property disclosure for financial aid anyway.

On a side note i bet that the college that you are attending/ wanting to attend has work study available. I work 40 hours a week at my school in the financial aid/ admissions office which pays for my tuition and books and gets me about $80 extra a week after taxes, i work nights at a hotel as a night auditor and get to study and sleep on the job as most of the time my duties are very light. My compensation is a hotel room where my wife and myself as well as our two kids live. My wife throws papers in the morning and works at the college library during the day, this allows her access to work on her Phd. and also provides us with free childcare through the college. On the weekends i bartend and my wife waits tables at Denny's, we use a 24 hour daycare that is co paid by our state (we found out about this service from our local food stamp office)

The reason i put the above in is to show the many different alternative ways we use to survive as a dual full time college family. Best of luck!
